The Give and Grow Locket- small version
Often it is through giving that we truly grow in our lives. When that giving is received mindfully it allows receivers to blossom and so the cycle continues. The Give and Grow Locket celebrates that growth.
The design of the locket is inspired by the growth rings of the oak tree, a symbol of wisdom and perseverance. Like a tree that grows in at its own pace, there are times in our lives when we are the ready to give, and times when it is important also to receive. The opening in the centre speaks to the power of vulnerability, exposing a hint of your note of thanks to someone who has given to you or of your source of mindful giving. A coin on the back holds your note in place inside the locket.
The coin symbolizes the carefully thought out giving of your resources which in turn allow others to find strength and ultimately be able to grow and give in their lives.
The Give and Grow Locket is made of Sterling Silver and Bronze. On the back is held a Canadian dime, it holds tight with a rare-earth magnet that is securely set into the locket. The locket comes It comes on a sterling silver medium fine chain, or a bronze link chain, you can choose from a variety of lengths.
You can see in the images they come on a bronze link chain or a med fine curb chain. If you choose this locket please send me a note of which chain you would prefer - for the curb you can choose 18, 20, 24, 30, 32 or 34" and the bronze link can be made in any length up to 34".
I also number all the lockets that I make and will let you know what numbers are available that will be stamped inside.
Here are some a notes I got back for this locket- love it! I have more and I should add here - time?

Here's one from a Vancouver customer
Dear Joanna- We gave Poppy her stunning necklace yesterday on her birthday.
Thank you for your sweet package and dimes.
She is thrilled. She put it on and hasn’t taken it off yet!!
We put in the really pretty decorative dime and I told her it was her birth year only to discover by her that is was a 2001!
The other two dimes are 2009 so thank you for that. What was the significance of the 2001? Just so I can share…or perhaps it’s just that it’s the prettiest most unique dime! Good enough for us- as We love it!!
Thank you for this very special present.
Lovely meeting you.
Cheers, Sarah
Here is my reply back with the background on the 2001 dime Sarah is referring too.
As i did with Sarah's order I always include the coloured one and the 2001 since they are so fun as well as any significant date dimes , especially if the customer is from outside Canada! Only our Canadian dimes are magnetic!
So if you order- don't hesitate to ask for quite a few - that makes this locket so fun, and meaningful!
Hello Sarah
Sorry for the slow reply - I just returned from another show in Victoria.
So glad to hear Poppy liked it!
You are right the 2001 was because it was pretty, and also it's meaning - see below - because from what you have told me of Poppy I can
imagine her following her own path and difference to others :))
So nice to meet you too:)) Joanna
2001-P CANADIAN 10-CENT YEAR OF VOLUNTEERS/MARCHING MOTHERS DIME COIN
From a community, to a nation, to the world
Fifty years ago, mothers from Hamilton, ON collected dimes to find a cure for polio. Their efforts made a direct contribution to the discovery of the vaccine. Their work continued, responding to new areas of need and expanding into other communities. These "Marching Mothers" were a significant force in the lives of Canadians and exemplify the spirit of volunteerism.
Participating in the art of kindness
Think of your friends, relatives, co-workers and neighbors. You probably know some very special people who quietly give a little of their time and energy to help others. They coach the pee-wee hockey team, lead the effort to clean up the park, organize recycling drives to raise money for a worthy cause, bring meals to the disabled and elderly, or make a child's hospital stay just a little brighter. They ask for nothing in return.
Simply getting a smile and knowing they have helped is enough.
Design
The obverse design by Dora de Pedry-Hunt and Ago Aarand depicts the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in right profile, when she was 64 years old. It is surrounded with the inscription "ELIZABETH II D • G • REGINA".
This coin depicts a symbolic rendition of the marching mothers and the sun's rays, symbolizing the enlightening effect that volunteers have upon our communities. It is accompanied with the legend both in English and French "YEAR OF VOLUNTEERS • ANNÉE DES BÉNÉVOLES".
