Lately these times have me dreaming of travel - not a longing for more travel - but a feeling of thankfulness and wonder in the travels that I have had the privilege of taking. I also have been realizing how experiencing the stories of other people's travels through stories, books, film, podcasts... can do so much to widen our world view as well.
Since air travel has often been what took us on those far-away journeys, my symbol for these travel thoughts is an almost human-feeling little airplane.
I wear this little airplane and dream of travel memories; starting by going back to 1986 when I stood barefoot at dawn by the Taj Mahal on my first long solo trip. I can remember vividly the kind generous people that I met there, that trip was a life marker and I would not be the same person had I not travelled there. Trips to canoe the Yukon River and hike the Chilkoot trail gave me a love and deep respect for Canada and the outdoors. More recently backpacking trips to Italy and Europe have had the effect of further enriching my world perspective more than I could have ever imagined! Each trip either solo or shared with others becomes a piece of who we are.
